Where April Eats: The Best Pubs and Bars in Cheltenham

If you have been following April’s series, you will know that Cheltenham punches well above its weight when it comes to food and drink. We have covered coffee, pastries, brunch and dinner, and now it is time to wrap things up with something just as important… a good drink.

From relaxed wine bars to lively breweries and laid back neighbourhood spots, April has pulled together her favourite places to unwind after a day exploring Cheltenham or heading back to your Red Kite accommodation.

If you missed the earlier parts of the series, you can catch up here:
Part One: Coffee | Part Two: Pastries | Part Three: Brunch & Lunch | Part Four: Dinner

Now, over to April for her top picks.

Sixways Wine Bar

Location: London Road
A relaxed, friendly spot with an impressive wine list. Try a wine flight if you want to sample a few different pours, and pair it with a cheese board for the full experience.

A warm, relaxed spot with shelves of great wine and a cosy atmosphere, perfect for ending the day with a glass (or two).

Bottle of Sauce

Location: Ambrose Street
A local favourite with a great bar selection and laid back atmosphere. If you are staying for food, the pizza is a must, and the house Dodo Lager is a reliable choice.

Laid back, lively and reliably tasty: pizza, burgers, fries and a couple of beers make Bottle of Sauce a Cheltenham favourite.

John Gordons

Location: Montpellier Arcade
A Cheltenham staple. Sit outside in the arcade on a sunny day and watch the world go by, or head into the cosy basement for wine, whisky or international beers. A great all rounder.

A perfect Montpellier spot to sit outside with a drink and watch the world go by, from Aperol spritz to local cider and a good coffee.

Deya Brewery

Location: Lansdown Industrial Estate
If you are into craft beer, you cannot miss Deya. The taproom sits in a spacious industrial setting with lots of seating, a great atmosphere and beers that are dangerously drinkable. Before you leave, cross the road to The Swamp for an excellent cocktail.

Big flavours, big artwork and plenty of space to settle in with a couple of Deya’s top tier craft beers. A must visit for beer lovers.

Outro

That brings us to the end of April’s five part Cheltenham food and drink series. From your first morning coffee to your final drink of the evening, Cheltenham’s independent scene offers an incredible mix of flavours, styles and atmospheres, and April’s recommendations highlight just how much there is to enjoy.

If you are staying at a Red Kite property, we hope these guides help you discover new favourites during your visit. And if you own a holiday let in Cheltenham or the Cotswolds and want a local management team that knows the area inside out, we would be happy to help.
