Where April Eats, Part 2: The Best Independent Bakeries for Pastries in Cheltenham
After kicking things off with Cheltenham’s best coffee spots, April is back for part two of her five-part foodie series. If you haven’t read that one yet and love coffee, it’s well worth a look. This time, we’re moving from flat whites to flaky pastries, with her top picks of independent bakeries in Cheltenham. From classic French croissants to seasonal specials that sell out before lunch, these are the spots April thinks are well worth a detour.
La Boulangerie Artisan
Location: Unit 4 Phoenix Works
Well worth any morning queues for the freshest, flakiest pastries. If you try the almond croissant you won’t be disappointed!

The Artisan Baker
Location: Imperial Square
A beautiful cafe serving even more beautiful baked goods and fresh loaves.

Otis & Belle
Location: 6 Montpellier Walk
Grab something sweet to take away and sit in Montpellier Gardens opposite for the ultimate Cheltenham treat.

And if you’re in Cheltenham between 8am-1pm on a Saturday…
Six Chimneys Bakery
Location: Alstone Lane
Only open on Saturdays with a different seasonal selection each week, although it’s off the beaten track the bakes are so good they will run out!

That wraps up part two of April’s five-part foodie guide to Cheltenham. Whether you’re after a classic croissant, a seasonal bun or something savoury straight from the oven, these independent bakeries prove the town’s pastry game is as strong as its coffee scene.
Stay tuned for part three, where April will be sharing her favourite brunch and lunch spots in Cheltenham, perfect places to linger a little longer over good food.
